A surprise delivery of a Lexus took place on Monday when an RX350 luxury SUV was bought by pipeline and process manager John Guy for his wife Julie as part of Borneo Motors Singapore's festive celebrations.

Called 'December to Remember', the celebrations are part of a Christmas campaign by the authorised Toyota and Lexus distributor to get people to consider buying a Lexus as a present for their loved ones.

Including Mr Guy and his $155,000 Christmas gift, Borneo Motors says about a dozen people are participating in the campaign. The first delivery took place in mid-November and the last one is scheduled for Dec 31.

'Most of our customers are men buying for their wives,' says William Choo, commercial director of Borneo Motors' Lexus division. 'Some got the cars for the families while one was for a son who had just returned from studying overseas.'

Mr Choo said there are probably others who bought a Lexus for their loved ones 'but may have been too shy to mention that it was a gift'.

'On the whole, the promotion was a success because it created a lot of awareness for the Lexus brand,' Mr Choo said. 'For some of our customers, this will certainly be a Christmas to remember.'
